2007 Summer Rafting in California

Published by W.E.T. River Trips | Filed under Events and Announcements, Rafting General

California rafters are heading to the river in droves as school lets out. Families and other rafting groups will paddle down the American River for most of this 2007 season. While some spring rafting trips were short and brief, the American will have a near normal season of flows.

Both the South Fork and class 4 Middle Fork American will have some of the best flows throughout the entire season due to water management agreements that will allow the dams to regulate the flows. The most popular river in the West, the class 3 South Fork American River just signed an agreement with the utility companies to have regulated flows for the next 50 years much to the delight of rafting enthusiasts everywhere.

Those who are traveling to California, should fly into Sacramento International airport or San Francisco. Both airports are in close proximity to the American River. From Sacramento, it’s only 45 minutes to both rivers and from San Francisco, only 3 hours away.

Montana Rafting in Full Swing on the Clark Fork River

Published by charlee | Filed under Rafting General

Montana will have water this year. The mountains near Missoula that drain into the Clark Fork River had 90% snow pack and minimal run off despite record high spring temperatures. We will have water.

The Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork is Montana’s finest class III run with 13 miles and 13 good rapids. The other day we were finishing up our training and found 3 otters playing. A mother and two pups were around most of last season and back this season. They were much more willing to play and show off while we watch this time. We also have a pair of bald eagles that have returned. They have nested near the river for the past 5 years and we have watched numerous first flights in August with their chicks.

As far as the run goes the Clark Fork River is now at the perfect water level.

Hudson River Rafting Expected to Be Memorable

Published by pat | Filed under Events and Announcements

Hudson River rafting trips are expected to be better than ever this year, according to a press release issued by Adirondack.net owner Mannix Marketing.

An abundance of snowfall this past winter, coupled with slower melting rates means plenty of excitement is in store for those planning a Hudson River rafting trip.

“We are looking at one of the better winters in recent years regarding the snowpack in the peaks. With the gradual melting so far we have plenty of snow ready to enter the river systems,” said Bob Rafferty, owner of the Adirondac Rafting Co. in Indian Lake, NY. “We should have some BIG water this spring which in turn will fill up the lakes and provide for excellent water sports all summer.”

Choose a New York Rafting Outfitter and visit Adirondack.net to learn about other things to do in the Hudson River area.
