The Upper Klamath River in Oregon is a 17 mile long Class IV+ river with dependable water releases all summer long from the John Boyle Powerhouse. In 1994 the Upper Klamath river achieved the “National Wild & Scenic River Designation” under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (1968) because of some of its outstanding remarkable values as the rivers Scenic Quality and Recreation Activities such as whitewater rafting.

The exciting part “Hells Corner Gorge” offers in 7 miles a concentrated dose of Class IV-IV+ rapids that are for advanced and expert boaters only. The river’s rugged high desert canyon also offers good scenery and solitude. Boaters may see bald eagles, golden eagles, falcons, ospreys herons, cormorants and Canadian geese. The canyon is rich in history, and boaters can explore the remains of Indian settlements, old mines ranches and mills.
